State has sanctioned the writing off of all arrears of
Squatters' and Village Rates up to the 31st December
1891, amounting to $928.79.
With reference to paragraph 5 of the same
Report, a Statement, showing the balancing of the
Crown Rent Roll for 1894 has since been furnished to me.
The arrangement relating to the Store
Accounts of the Public Works Department, referred to in
paragraph 12 of the Local Auditor's Report, involved a
complete stock taking. This has since been carried out
by an officer of the Naval Yard, and I have been inform-
ed that the preparation of a new set of books, based on
the result of such survey, has since been opened.
Regulations for the guidance of Store Accountants have
also been prepared and approved by the Governor.
In the course of the examination of the Post
Office Accounts at Canton, referred to in paragraph 17
of his Report, the Local Auditor ascertained that a
practice prevailed there of paying the private Accounts
lomake.
